Rodeo Sports Writer
Hoffman was one of a very select group of journalists to write weekly columns covering the sport of rodeo. He interviewed the all-time greats at every local event for the Fort Worth Star Telegram and preferred rodeo above every other sport. Brett says he had no desire to cover what others called the “major sports”. He chose to be down in the dirt of an arena at a major rodeo instead. Brett said, “I’m thankful for the opportunity to deal with athletes who wear chaps, high-top boots and silver spurs.”
Along with covering rodeo in the United States, Hoffman has traveled to most countries where organized rodeo is popular, and written about them in Canada, Australia and Brazil. However, his journalism extensively covered rodeo events in and around Fort Worth, Texas. One of his favorite places to be was the annual Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo which brought some of the biggest names in rodeo to “Cowtown” every year.
Hoffman was inducted into the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame in 2007.
